The issue with all our ideias, clicky, is: All of them are of similar Typing as the Starters... So, that could be a problem... Like, why have more than one Poke of the same type in his Party?
I seem to be the only one who thinks of this, but there are A LOT of water-type HMs, so I usually have 2 water type Pokemon. Think about it, in Gen II we had Surf, Whirpool and Waterfall. In Gen III, Whirpool was replaced with Dive. In Gen IV, we had Surf and Waterfall, and in the GS remakes we had Surf, Waterfall and Whirlpool again. In Gen V, a whole half of the HMS are water types, with Waterfall, Dive and Surf. That is why it is a good idea to have at least two Water types; you wouldn't want a Pokemon, especially a water starter, to know 3 HMs. Not a good idea.

That's why I never choose the water starter... :P AND, guys like Snorlax can learn Surf too, so, not really an issue, for me... :P lol But I totally get your point, it makes sense... ;)

It's also good to have one of those pokemon be a dual type water Pokemon to balance out your team.

It would be interesting if he owned some under-rated Pokemon like Slatter.

You mean after, or as a starter? I actually see Slatter like Zubat: For Brock! xD

why not give him/her (the main character could still be female.) an underrated Pokemon with some strange/funny quirk...ohdax seems/looks like a quirky pokemon. for slatter (and this is just my opinion) but if he/she owned a slatter...i just dont see that as being a starter. but maybe i dont have a good enough imagination. i don't know

I totally get your point, man, it is a good ideia to pick up one underated poke to give the hero some "heart"... I don't know if Rotato/Pillage fits the description, but it does Look odd, and it could have a weird personality, you know, like Wobbuffet (Maybe not so annoying). It has a dorky face, like Wobbuffet, so maybe. lol The Hero should be a male (Of course it could have a female friend) because most PT players/fans are guys... Also, Pokémon is more of a Guy's game (statistics could prove me wrong, 'though)... :P

No, I mean he could catch a Slatter later on, when he visits Obsidian Cave. Maybe he could release it sometime, like the official Manga.

Zubat had evolved into crobat first. And what kind of personality would his slatter have?

I'd like the character to have a quirky ohdax. It seems like a fun polemon.I just think it could provide some interesting comic relief. What is a seriously under rated pt Pokemon?

Maybe he could catch a springling. And I mean one that seems weaker then other springling. And maybe he could bring out its full potential and have it go from laughed at, to shocking everyone. Even against its weakness. Though still be vulnerable to its weaknessrs

Krittle maybe? I'm not quite sure. Possibly others around Argite Cave, they seem pretty dumb.

Maybe the main character could have a Zagger or a Raphlaze and his rival have the other because I get the sense that those pokemon seem like rivals because of how similar they look.
