QUOTE: Bulbapedia In another rare personal appearance on Pokémon Smash!, Game Freak director Junichi Masuda has announced that Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 are in development, and will be released in Japan in June for the Nintendo DS. The games were also announced on the official Japanese and international websites.
New formes of Kyurem were also revealed. The Kyurem/Zekrom forme, 「ブラックキュレム」 Black Kyurem, will be the mascot of Black 2, while the Kyurem/Reshiram forme, 「ホワイトキュレム」 White Kyurem, will be the mascot for White 2, in contrast to the original Pokémon Black and White.
If these games are direct sequels of Black and White, as the title would suggest, they would be the first direct sequels in the Pokémon main series.
It's even on pokemon.com, indicating this isn't a hoax or something.
What do you think of this idea? Is it a good idea or a bad idea? Discuss!

| Yeah, I saw the news about this last night I'm actually suprised that they're releasing the Black and White sequels so soon, but I don't mind at all Releasing the sequel as two seperate games is an interesting choice - I assumed the third game would establish some sort of middle ground between the two. While I imagine that it still can and probably will do so, it's still different from what I thought. I'm guessing that they want to address different ideas mentioned in Black and White (nature vs. technology, conservatives vs. liberals) seperately. I'm looking foward to that
Kyurem's forms are very interesting - it takes on the appearance of Reshiram/Zekrom while keeping some of its Ice elements. I already knew of Freeze Shock and Ice Burn, so I knew it would happen, but not like this I think the forms are pretty cool, but I want to know how the stats would differ between the two. I think it'll probably do what Deoxys did and have the forms maintain their stats and form depending on the game (like how Deoxys-Attack was in Fire Red and Deoxys-Defense was in Leaf Green). I can already imagine that some people will complain about the splotchyness (is that a word?) of the formes, but I personally that this was done intentionally to prove a point.
Anyway, I'm looking foward for more information on the sequels to Black and White - I think what they're doing is fine

| I'm rather intrigued by these two new games. I had fully expected the fifth generation to follow the pattern that's been around for so long and make a "Grey" version. I didn't buy Black or White because I've been waiting for the third version, and thankfully, it appears I won't have long to wait. I've already familiarized myself with the fifth generation, as both of my younger brothers own copies of Black and White, so my question is; will this expand on the first two games, as the third game generally does, or will it be a sequel? The titles make me think it will be a sequel, but I don't know that for sure. Black and White certainly left the plot open for a sequel.

Yeah I agree Black and White did leave off in an odd way, but I'm suprised about his as much as everybody else is!
I dunno what they are going to do to really bring out these two new games to make them very distinct from the first ones
other than a better post-ending! :)

| I knew there would never be a grey version... But I didn't think they'd even bother to continue after this because they'd run out of names.
Look's like I was mostly right, except for the continuing the franchise part. I hope b/w 2 is actually a sequel and not what would be expected in the "grey" version.

If they didn't buy pokemon b/w for the sole purpose of buying grey then clearly they aren't very big fans of pokemon as they missed out on two oppurtunities to get victini and other event pokemon.
So they might not bother with the first b/w when the second comes out. |

Indicating? More like proving. Of course it's not a hoax - it was announced officially 3 days or so before it was revealed...
I think the new Pokemon are stupid. They've just spliced two sprites. No imagination at all.

It's a sequel - something new. It's not like Emerald or Platinum. Which is nice.

What kind of logic is that? Seems pretty stupid to me...

Um... that's pretty dang smart logic on the bussiness part "more money" KA-CHING$!!!
Anyway hopefully it is more of a sequel than and redo with a bit of extra stuff
But what I'm thinking is that it's going to have a sequeled post-ending to where N went off to... |

There are no new pokemon.
They are forms of kyurem, they are supposed to be a mixture of kyruem and reshiram/zekrom.
This makes sense as one theory behind kyurem is that reshiram and zekrom were once one being and kyurem is the shell of what was left once they split.
So the new forms of kyurem could be kyurem remerging with one of it's "others" (or just taking on characteristics of one if it's "others")
I don't actually remember where I first came across that theory but I was able to confirm it by finding it again on the pokemon wiki here. |

| Yes, I meant the new forms. It wasn't that hard to realise that, was it?
Perhaps it makes sense, but they could have come up with a better idea than literally cutting and pasting pieces of them together. Like a Reshiram-themed Kyurem, with a slightly different shape and colouring. |

| think of it as two pieces of soft clay-doh (yellow & blue) colliding into one, you gotta see both colours to see how it came to be.
If these two colours mixed together after colliding it wouldn't look like yellow or blue at all! It would be green, a completely new colour.
I like the yellow/blue ball of clay better than the idea of a plain green ball. |

| I thought they would go with R/S remakes before they continued with the next version of Black and White, so when news of B2/W2 came out, I was really suprised Of course, they really don't need a R/S remake because of all of the Pokemon they stuffed into HG/SS, but it would be nice to see (and it'd be easy money )
And Lody puts it really well I've been doing some thinking, and I've pondered upon the reason why the dragon that Kyurem is (fusing with/mimicing) takes over in terms of appearance. I think it's because the forms don't represent 'balance' in the basic sense - as in the absolute middle of both sides. Rather, the forms still represent ideals vs. truth (or liberalism vs. conservatism), but in a balanced matter. They still represent two opposite viewpoints, but not as extreme as Reshiram and Zekrom. Limits have been set to their beliefs, and they know when to stop when they go too far. That's just my two cents though. |

I don't think they will do remakes of those games for a while. It took them forever to make the remakes of gold and silver, plus the had to add a whole bunch of new features to accommodate all the new pokemon and to covert the sprites to 3d style of platinum as well as tweaking the story a little bit. But that would be cool to see them do it, it might take a while for it to come out though. |

Now that I think about it, you're definately right - especially the sprites. They have to put a lot of work into them now to get them to be animated, and with all of the features and stuff that they usually do, I could imagine that it would take quite a bit of time. I agree though, it'd be great to see it happen.
EDIT: New Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 information has been leaked Here are some quick bullet points to sum up the information:
- The game is set two years after the original Black and White
- The map of Unova is partially frozen, and some places lie Riute 4 have been updated
- The Unova Dex has 300 Pokemon in it, including Pokemon like Riolu and Metagross.
- New Gym Leaders, Player Characters, Rival, and Hometown
There are more details which I haven't listed (which includes pictures). Check it all out at Serebii.net |

| I've taken a look at the map, towns that are inaccessable due to the "flash freeze" are, Nuvema, Accumula, Nacrene, Striaton, Undella, Lacunosa, and Iccirus.
Bridges that are inaccessible are sky arrow and Marvelous bridge. The desert has been improved with what looks like a "strip mall" and the water around the entra link has been drained. Three possibly four new towns are located in the south on the previously inaccessible peninsula of Unova. The Pokemon league has been completely incased in ice and might have moved to the section west of undella town, accessible only by what looks like an air strip. A speculation is that you will at some point in the game, be able to remove the ice and visit these other towns. It's a little farfetched but it would be cool. Village bridge, opelucid city, and the tbuline bridge haven't been encased in ice so, there is a possibility that you can still visit these towns.

| Thanks for analyzing the map I guess Striaton being frozen could explain its description in B/W. But yeah, it'll be interesting to see what effects the ice will have on gameplay |
