| I guess you can see Glaytr and Mythos as their counterparts because they both are fighters with attacks that have to do with light. |

| Hey everyone. I just joined the forums earlier today and got the third badge last night.
With the release of new versions of Pokemon Twilight, will the levels of our Pokemon be saved as well?
That is, will those of us who manage to get like level 60+ pokemon before the next major updates are available be able to breeze through the next 3 gyms or so? |

| Yeah, all of your saved data is carried through new versions. I would have never trained as high as I did if I couldn't keep my Pokemon

| Ah, the perks of being a pioneer.
Few more questions:
1. Is Sleaf still found only in Route 9?
2. What is the probability of catching pokemon with a particular nature? Or is it mostly random/evenly distributed?
3. How exactly are the base stats and effort value yields of each pokemon determined? Or is that something only programmers know?
Another approach to question 3: Which generation of the main pokemon games does the EV system in Pokemon Twilight most closely follow? |

| 1) Yeah, Sleaf can only be found in their now until it finds a new place to stay, as it was too overpowered to be found in Farlgrove Forest.
2) The natures should be randomly distributed - since there are 50 of them in PT, that will be a 2% chance per nature. However, in all of the time I've played, I've never encountered a Pokemon with a Nerdy nature before, so it must be very rare. (Btw, I'd trade pretty heavily for one of those ) Geeky natures are also kind of rare for me, but I've seen people get them so it's not that bad.
3) Base stats and effort values are made primarily by Kabob - quite a few of them have been revealed on the Pokedex on the PT site. I've also tried to calculate and estimate some of the values for certain Pokemon, but the majority of them are unknown.
3b) PT follows the EV system introduced in Gen 3. I have EV trained the Pokemon in my main team, and I can confirm that everything works just like it. |

I see. I just got one at level 22; what's the lowest level it can be found at now?

Ah, so does that mean those precise values are made known at the discretion of Kabob and others who make them (and in their own time as opposed to being asked about them)? |

| Yeah, they are generally revealed whenever he feels like putting some up. It's a little too early to reveal all of the Pokemon's base stats when we're only three Gyms in |

How about Individual Values? Are those determined in a fashion similar to Effort Values and Base Stats (i.e. created by programmers) or are they calculable once the base stats for a pokemon are known?
(I tried reading about Individual Values on bulbapedia, but I still don't quite understand how they work) |

| Individual Values are just random values from 0 to 31 that increase specific stats like in the real games. They are generated and randomly and can not be changed. |

| Each stat is assigned a number from 0 to 31, and the higher the number, the higher the stat. For example, if I had an Espeon with a neutral nature at Lv. 100 untrained, it would be 296 with 31 IVs. If the same Espeon had 0 IVs, it would be 265. Each stat is assigned a number randomly that affects the stat's overall potential. |

| Alright, now it makes sense.
What about shiny pokemon? I know they differ from regular pokemon colorwise and are much rarer; do they differ functionally as well (ex. higher IV's, higher base stats, harder to catch, etc.)? |

| Every Pokemon you find has a 1 in 8192 chance of being shiny in Gen 3+. In PT, the chances are one in 7800. In Gen 3 and higher, a Pokemon's shininess were not connected to IVs or stats, but in Gen 2, it meant that a Pokemon had 0 DVs (Gen 2's IV system had them in groups of two and were 0-30) in HP, 10 DVs in Defense, Sp.A, Sp.D, and Speed, while the Attack IV had a few choices. |

| Ah okay; seems to be mostly about aesthetics and collecting then (?).
Can pokemon acquired from a trade still gain EV's or will they level up to weaker stats than those that stay with the OT (I heard that's what happens in Generation 1)?
P.S. A bit of background info: Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Stadium 1 are the most recent games in the main series that I've played. |

| Yeah, shiny Pokemon are pretty much an aesthetic bonus.
Pokemon aquired from trades get EVs at the same rate regular Pokemon do. You're half-right about saying that traded Pokemon level up to weaker stats in Gen 1, but it's not exactly true. In Gen 1, there was stat exp. instead of EVs, and every time a Pokemon defeated a Pokemon, each individual base stat would be added to a collective total for the Pokemon. The highest amount you could get was 65535, although I believe you needed around 63302 or something to max out a stat. Since traded Pokemon gain exp faster, they do end up weaker, but the difference can be made up at anytime, since Pokemon don't stop gaining stat exp. at Lv. 100 (btw, stat exp. grinding takes forever ). This is similar to how EV training works in Gen 5, where Pokemon don't stop gaining EVs until they hit their peak, instead of being unable to gain EVs naturally after LV. 100 in Gen 3 and 4. |
