I was tossing around the idea of doing twilight in a 2.5D engine. But with people having issues with game speed as is, it doesn't seem very plausible. Yeah people get movement engines up in 2.5D with game maker that look fine, but they aren't COMPLETE GAMES. I've been tossing around the idea, what do you guys think?

This sounds like a great idea. The best thing to do with speed would be to split the room size down quite a lot - ie. 1 room per town/route etc. Moving to 2.5d would be a big step forward, though it might take quite a while to do.

I just don't know that it would be worth it for the time and processing requirements.

I think keeping it 2d is for the best.

PT is supposed to be gen 3, so having it 2.5d would kind of spoil the point, though it would look quite good

The idea is good, but there's a lot of things you'd have to change. Not only the whole game, but the battle sprites etc. Your choice;)

2.5D is alright, but not worth the effort it would take to make PT into it. I'd stick with 2D. Plus, you get the nostalgia factor going with the 2D tiles

That's what the topic was about. He's decided against it now though.
