Looks like I found out how to clone pokemon here. This method was basically what I used, and I repeated it a few times with success.
Cloning a pokemon.
1.) Have the pokemon that you want to clone in your PC box.
2.) Have a pokemon that you don't care about as your lead pokemon in your party.
3.) While in your PC box, view the summary of the pokemon that you want to clone in your PC box.
4.) Close out of your computer.
5.) Enjoy your double pokemon.
