| I can't get this dumb idea out of my head so i'm going to post something here so i can forget about this.
new subsets to moves: standard, set-up, activator and clean-up.
the standard moves would just be the move nothing to special.
Set-up moves would be the move but on top of that effect the opponents half of the field, for instance a metal setup move might leave shards of metal on the opponents end of the field. This would do nothing unless a activator move is used.
The Activator move would be the a move which would effect any set-up which the player would have done. if i take the example of the metal set-up move, when it is hit with a land based activator move (maybe earthquake or something like that) due to the earth being effected the metal shards would bounce around a bit boosting the power of the move by maybe 1.5x or something.
Clean-up moves would clear your side of the field (or your opponents if you wanted a change in tactics) from a set-up (think rapid spin and spikes kind of thing).
I feel like this would add an extra layer of strategy to a battle while keeping it simple and not trying to do anything special.
Thank you for reading this, it has been on my mind for a while now and i just needed to get it out there.

| I hope its executed well. it would take precision to execute correctly. Als, wouldn't the creature have the metal hurt its feet on switchin?
then again, i think thats just an example or something |
